Windle captures three-meter title at UT Diving Invite

Texas freshman Jordan Windle sweeps the springboards, dominates Friday’s men’s three-meter final.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas freshman Jordan Windle led from start-to-finish finished off a springboard sweep, as he won the men's three-meter title with room to spare Friday evening at the UT Diving Invite.
Windle, a two-time World Championships competitor for Team USA, put on a show in the three-meter final and was victorious with 479.55 points, over 90 points clear of his nearest competitor, Zach Cooper of Miami (Fla.).
Windle registered 73 points or better on all six of his dives, and he maxed out with 90.10 points on his fifth-round dive, a forward two-and-half somersault with two twists.
Texas sophomore Jacob Cornish put together a strong list, as well, and totaled 374.45 points for third place. His classmate Reed Merritt placed fifth in the final with 323.35 points.
Competition at the UT Diving Invite wraps on Saturday with the men's and women's platform competition beginning at noon.
In other news Friday, Texas senior Brett Ringgold was selected as the Big 12 Men's Swimmer of the Week, and Windle was tabbed as the league's Men's Diver of the Week.
Ringgold swept the sprint freestyle events at No. 11 Texas A&M and No. 22 North Carolina. took an Olympian and a World Championships qualifier – N.C. State's Ryan Held and Eric Ress – to defeat Ringgold in the sprints at N.C. State. Ringgold produced impressive relay splits at all three road meets, including an 18.73 anchor on the 200 medley relay at A&M.
Windle won the three-meter events at No. 5 N.C. State and No. 11 Texas A&M. He topped out at 465.60 points at N.C. State and defeated his nearest competitor from the Wolfpack by nearly 100 points. He has won at least one board in five of six meets this season.
