Texas juniors Leonardo Telles and Rodrigo Banzer knock out Florida’s top-seeded tandem in Friday’s quarterfinals.
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Texas juniors Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles upset Florida's top-seeded tandem of Johannes Ingildsen and Alfredo Perez Friday night at the inaugural ITA National Fall Championships.
The eighth-seeded Texas tandem made short work of the Gators in the quarterfinals and registered a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win.
Banzer and Telles will take on Wisconsin's Chema Carranza and Josef Dodridge in Saturday's semifinals.
The ITA National Fall Championships are the second of three majors on the college tennis calendar. The ITA All-American Championships were contested last month, and the final major – the NCAA Championship – is set for next May.
The first edition of the ITA National Fall Championships replaced the now defunct ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships that had been held annually in New York each November.
