No. 2 Women's Swimming adds two wins on night three at Texas Invitational

Quinn Carrozza takes the 200 freestyle and former Longhorn Madisyn Cox claims the 400 IM.
AUSTIN, Texas – Former Longhorn Madisyn Cox notched a convincing win in the 400-yard individual medley, and UT junior Quinn Carrozza put away an impressive win in the 200 freestyle Friday night at the Texas Invitational.
Cox opened the Friday finals with a wire-to-wire win in the 400-yard individual medley. Cox, an All-American for the Longhorns in the same event, was victorious in 4 minutes, 2.95 seconds. Among current Horns, freshman Evie Pfeifer led the way in 4:08.87, just off of her preliminary time of 4:08.47. Freshman Maxine Wolters took fifth at 4:12.03, and junior Nora McCullagh placed seventh at 4:18.28.
Junior Remedy Rule paced the Horns in the 100 butterfly with her fifth-place mark of 52.25. Sophomore Lauren Case followed in seventh at 52.78. Freshman Emily Reese qualified for the consolation final, where she placed fifth at 53.75.
Carrozza continued her strong stint at the Texas Invite with a win in the 200 freestyle. The Austin native was victorious in 1:44.15, just .04 off of her personal best set Wednesday night when she led off an 800 freestyle relay. Her classmate Joanna Evans placed second at 1:44.75, while senior Rebecca Millard tied for sixth at 1:45.90.
Cox returned to take second in the 100 breaststroke at 59.22 while sophomore Kennedy Lohman placed fourth at 1:00.41. Junior Brooke Hansen took sixth at 1:01.08, and her classmate Olivia Anderson placed seventh at 1:01.16.
Sophomore Claire Adams put together a strong swim in the 100 backstroke championship final and took second at 51.61 before leading off the 200 medley relay minutes later. The Longhorns placed second in the medley relay at 1:37.73. Wisconsin was victorious in 1:37.14.
The fourth and final day of the Texas Invitational begins Saturday with the preliminary round at 10 a.m. CT. Finals are set for 6 p.m.
