Women's Tennis tops Tulane and Tulsa at Blue-Gray Tennis Classic

Longhorns rally to victory over Tulane Saturday morning and make short work of Tulsa in an afternoon match.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Texas (4-3) finished up a come-from-behind victory over Tulane and decisively put away Tulsa in an afternoon consolation round contest Saturday on the final day of competition at the Blue-Gray Tennis Classic.
The Longhorns began a match against Tulane on Friday with doubles and trailed the Green Wave before resuming the match Saturday morning in singles. Senior Neda Koprcina posted a 6-0, 6-3 win over Kyla Klier at second singles, and UT freshman Petra Granic finished off the Green Wave's Sade Atkinson by a 6-0, 6-1 count at third singles.
Freshman Anna Turati locked up a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 win over Ivone Alvaro at fourth singles, and sophomore Katie Poluta closed out a 6-4, 6-0 win over Christina Sisti at sixth singles, as Texas registered its 4-2 win over Tulane.
Texas took charge early on against Tulsa and won the doubles point. UT's 35th-ranked tandem Petra Granic and Dani Wagland dealt Ksenia Laskutova and Martina Okalova a 6-2 defeat at first doubles. Neda Koprcina and Anna Turati contributed a 6-2 win over Marcelina Cichon and Mahitha Dadireddy at third doubles.
Bianca Turati made short work of Laskutova at first singles and prevailed by a 6-1, 6-1 count. Poluta notched a 7-6, 6-2 win over Cichon at sixth singles before UT closed out the team victory with simultaneous wins from Granic and Anna Turati. Granic dealt Dadireddy a 6-2, 6-2 defeat at third singles while Turati finished off Martina Okalova by the same tally. The remaining matches were suspended.
Texas resumes dual-match play on the road next weekend when it takes on Stanford and Fresno State.
