AUSTIN – Following an exciting Thursday at the 2017 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by Spectrum, where three meet records, two stadium records and a collegiate record went down, Friday's action did not disappoint. Four more meet records were either broken or tied, as high school action ramped up.
Friday Attendance: 17,470
The men's triple jump meet record went down, as Matthew O'Neal (unattached) had a strong series in the event. Despite his winning mark of 56-8.5 (17.28m) being wind-aided, he still broke the meet record with his second jump going for a distance of 55-11 (17.04m). It was also a Mike A. Myers Stadium record.
Texas A&M's women's sprint medley team of Diamond Spaulding, Jaevin Reed, Kadecia Baird and Jazmine Fray set a new Texas Relays record with a time of 3:42.10. It bested Arkansas' previous meet record set in 2015.
Two high school records were also tied or broken on Friday. Gabriel Oladipo of Fort Bend Hightower set a new Relays record with a winning throw of 205-1 in the boys discus. In the girls high jump, Dallas Highland Park's Falyn Reaugh tied the meet record with a mark of 6-0 (1.82m). It was the fourth time a high school girl has hit that mark, also done by Destinee Hooker (2005), Erin Aldrich (1996) and Shenell Searcy (1989).
Saturday's action at the Texas Relays begins at 8:15 a.m. Longhorn Network will have live coverage starting at 1:30 p.m. CT through the conclusion of the meet.
