SUNSET, S.C. – Junior Sophia Schubert tied for second to lead Texas Women's Golf to a fourth-place finish on Sunday at the Clemson Invitational.
Schubert followed a 67 and 69 with a 1-over 73 to close the event at 7-under par, two strokes behind the leader.
It marks her lowest finish of the season, defeating three players ranked in the Golfstat top-14.
Freshmen Greta Isabella Voelker and Emilee Hoffman both tied for 22nd after Voelker carded a 74 and Hoffman a 75.
Senior Haley Mills made three birdies for a third-round 71, the lowest round for Texas for the day. She finished in a tie for 44th, while senior Julia Beck tied for 48th.
As a team, Texas earned its fourth-place finish in a field with five teams ranked in Golfstat's top-24, finishing even par through three rounds.
Florida State won the tournament at 10-under par, while the Seminoles' Matilda Castren took home medalist honors at 9-under par.
Texas will close its regular season at the Lady Buckeye at the Ohio State University Golf Club on April 15 and 16.

Head Coach Ryan Murphy
On Schubert's finish: Sophia had a great week. Tee-to-green, she was outstanding with her ball striking and was also very sharp with her chipping and sand play. She played well today having been sitting on the 36-hole lead…she just needed a couple more putts to drop and she wins. Sophia's overall game looked terrific this week and I'm very proud of her effort.
On the team's effort: I thought it was very solid. With one round to play, we were in position to win. That's what you want as a coach and then it's all about executing on that final round. Today the pins were more difficult, the wind shifted and the course played tougher. It yielded only two rounds in the 60s. When that's the case, the player has to recognize that pars, in several places, is a good score. And above everything else, the player needs to be very present in order to produce whatever their best score is that day. It's an area that we need to continue to work on.
