Freshman Lexi Sun shares why she chose UT, her favorite pro team, and her role model.
Hometown: Solana Beach, Calif.
Position: Outside Hitter
Interest of Study: Business, Communication and Leadership
Q. What are your expectations in your first year with Texas?
LS: I want to fulfill my role to the best of my ability. I'm excited to finally be here after years of anticipation.
Q. How did you choose UT?
LS: It was a long process. I visited a lot of different schools, but ultimately decided UT was the best fit—the city of Austin, the coaching staff, the program, and the way I just feel at home here were all selling points.
Q. What are your career aspirations?
LS: Not sure yet!
Q. What other sports did you play growing up?
LS: I played soccer for eight years, but I started getting too tall. My parents made me switch to volleyball and I have been playing since I was 11.
Q. How would your best friends describe you?
LS: Energetic, laughs a lot, social
Q. How do you want people to remember you at Texas?
LS: I want people to remember that I was a good teammate and supportive of my team no matter what.
Q. What is your favorite pro team to watch?
LS: The Golden State Warriors, mostly because I am a big Kevin Durant fan!
Q. How many siblings do you have and do they play volleyball?
LS: I have two siblings—an older brother and an older sister. My sister grew up playing volleyball, but played soccer at Azusa Pacific University.
Q. Who is your role model?
LS: My dad, because he is always hard-working and determined. He encourages me.
Q. What is your favorite food?
LS: Acai bowls.
