SYDNEY, Australia — Sophomore guard Andrew Jones recorded a team-high 18 points while hitting 4-of-8 from three-point range to pace The University of Texas in an 88-60 defeat against the Illawarra Hawks on Monday evening at Alexandria Basketball Stadium. The Hawks play in the National Basketball League (NBL), the top professional league in Australia.
Freshman forward Jericho Sims added 10 points and seven rebounds, while freshman forward Mohamed Bamba registered nine points and seven boards.
The Longhorns conclude their four-game Australian exhibition tour with a 2-2 record, with the final three games coming against NBL competition (Melbourne United, Cairns Taipans and Illawarra Hawks). This marks just the second overseas summer tour by a UT men's basketball team and first since the program visited Australia in the summer prior to the 1996-97 season.
