Men’s Basketball hosts Texas Tip-Off at Gregory Gym on Wednesday

Texas Tip-Off presented by American Campus Communities: UT students and fans encouraged to attend free event and catch your first glimpse of the 2017-18 Longhorns.
AUSTIN, Texas — Year three of the Shaka Smart era is here, and for the third straight season, Texas Basketball will begin the year with the Texas Tip-Off presented by American Campus Communities on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Gregory Gym in the heart of The University of Texas campus.
Admission for this year's event is FREE. Donors, season-ticket holders and general public must claim a ticket on line in advance HERE. All UT students will be able to show their official University of Texas ID to gain entry.
Only the first 3,000 people in line will be admitted inside Gregory Gym, and seating will be general admission on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans are encouraged to line up outside the gym entrance in advance of the doors opening at 6 p.m. The entrance to Gregory Gym is at the top of the stairs on the west side of the gymnasium.
Longhorn Network will provide live coverage of this year's Texas Tip-Off. LHN will take the air with a 30-minute "Texas GameDay" preview show airing from a studio set inside Gregory Gym from 6:30-7 p.m. Longhorn Network then will televise the Texas Tip-Off from 7-8:30 p.m. Additionally, both "Texas GameDay" and Texas Tip-Off will be available to watch on the ESPN App. Lowell Galindo (play-by-play), Lance Blanks (analyst) and Tyler Denning (report) will handle talent responsibilities for the Texas Tip-Off.
Parking for this event is free and available in the Brazos Garage. The first 600 fans through the doors can claim free T-shirts, courtesy of Raising Cane's. One UT student will also have the chance to win free Raising Cane's for a year.
Here's a timeline of events and interactive contests scheduled for this year's Texas Tip-Off (Central time):
6:47 - Player Introductions
6:55 - Coach Smart address to the crowd
7:01 - Dance contest featuring Andrew Jones, Jacob Young and two pre-selected UT fans/students
7:08 - 3-point contest featuring Team Eric Davis Jr. versus Team Jase Febres (each will team up with one pre-selected UT fan/student)
7:16 - Dunk contest featuring Kerwin Roach II versus Jericho Sims
7:30 - Orange-White scrimmage (24 minutes in length) begins
There will be a player autograph session for all fans in attendance surrounding the Gregory Gym court at the conclusion of the scrimmage.
