Wagland, Ito advance to third round at World University Games

Texas’ Dani Wagland and Yuya Ito advance to the third round of their respective singles draws in Taiwan.
TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – Texas senior Dani Wagland and UT sophomore Yuya Ito advanced to the third round of their respective singles draws Tuesday at the 29th World University Games.
Representing Australia, Wagland advanced to the third round of the women's singles draw by posting a 6-0, 6-0 win over Josefina Surraco of Argentina. Wagland meets top-seeded Kai-Chen Chang of Chinese Taipei in the round of 32 on Wednesday (9:30 a.m. local/8:30 p.m. CT Tuesday).
Representing Japan, Ito posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Daniel Valent of Switzerland. The 30th-seeded Ito takes on fourth-seeded Hong Chung of South Korea on Wednesday in the round of 32 (start time TBD).
