Senior Sebastian Gorzny becomes a two-time Academic All-American after earning second-team honors last year.
Austin – Texas Men's Tennis senior Sebastian Gorzny was named to the 2025-26 Men's Tennis Academic All-America First Team selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the association announced Wednesday. Gorzny now becomes a two-time Academic All-American after earning second-team honors last year.
This is the fourth year there has been an Academic All-America team unique to tennis after it was previously part of an at-large category made up of multiple sports, and there has been at least one Longhorn all four years. That includes Texas twice having the top honor of Team Member of the Year in Pierre-Yves Bailly last year and Eliot Spizzirri the year before. Gorzny joins Spizzirri as two-time honorees on the team.
Other Longhorns to receive the accolade in that span include Lucas Brown on the second team last year, Micah Braswell on the first team in 2024, and Cleve Harper on the second team in 2023.
This year, the overall team was made up of six selections each on first, second team and third teams.
Gorzny, who also earned ITA All-America honors in singles this season, held a 3.93 GPA at the time of the selection and earned his bachelor's degree in Physical Culture and Sports from UT this semester.
This season, he led Texas to an NCAA National Runner-Up finish, a second-straight Final Four, the program's first ITA Indoors National Championship, and back-to-back sweeps of the SEC regular season and tournament titles.
He finished ranked No. 2 in singles, which is the fourth-straight year Texas has had a top-two player, and he was the Most Outstanding Player of the ITA National Indoor Championships, and the Most Valuable Player of the SEC Championship, while also being named First Team All-SEC for the second-straight year.
Gorzny compiled a 26-8 overall record in singles, a 20-6 mark in dual matches, all at No. 1, and was 7-2 in the SEC. As part of that, he registered seven top-15 victories and 13 top-50 wins. He was also second on the team in overall clinches with seven.
