Orlando, Fla. – Texas Men's Tennis senior Sebastian Gorzny will compete in the American Collegiate Player Wildcard Playoffs from June 16-18 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., the USTA announced Wednesday. Gorzny will be part of a field of players vying for entry into the 2026 US Open.
Six wild card entries into the US Open (four singles, two doubles) will be awarded via the second-year playoff event. The winners of the four-player men's and women's singles playoff and four-team men's and women's doubles playoff will earn US Open main draw singles and doubles wild cards, respectively, while the men's and women's singles finalists will earn US Open Qualifying wild cards.
After automatic qualifiers from the NCAA Singles and Doubles finals, the remaining selections were made based on a number of criteria, including 2025-26 match record, ITA ranking, ATP/WTA ranking, professional and head-to-head results, and more. The other competitors in men's singles include Trevor Svajda of SMU, Aidan Kim of Ohio State and Matthew Forbes, formerly of Michigan State.
All singles and doubles matches will be played with a best-of-three-set format featuring regular scoring, with a 10-point tiebreak at 6-all in the third set. Admission is free. Cracked Racquets will provide streaming coverage.
Gorzny, who was just named an ITA All-American in singles on Tuesday, led Texas to an NCAA National Runner-Up finish, a second-straight Final Four, the program's first ITA Indoors National Championship, and back-to-back sweeps of the SEC regular season and tournament titles.
He finished ranked No. 2 in singles, which is the fourth-straight year Texas has had a top-two player, and he was the Most Outstanding Player of the ITA National Indoor Championships, and the Most Valuable Player of the SEC Championship, while also being named First Team All-SEC for the second-straight year.
Gorzny compiled a 26-8 overall record in singles, a 20-6 mark in dual matches, all at No. 1, and was 7-2 in the SEC. As part of that, he registered seven top-15 victories and 13 top-50 wins. He was also second on the team in overall clinches with seven.
