Evans wins silver at World University Games

Bahamian Olympian Joanna Evans wins her second medal of the meet in Taiwan.
TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan – Texas junior Joanna Evans claimed her second medal of the meet and won silver in the 400-meter freestyle Saturday at the 29th World University Games.
Evans, who won bronze in the 800m freestyle on Friday for The Bahamas, took silver in the 400m freestyle at 4 minutes, 8.52 seconds. Sarah Koehler of Germany won gold in 4:03.96 while the USA's Sierra Schmidt won bronze in 4:09.82.
Evans is among the top returning middle-distance and distance swimmers at the U.S. collegiate level. She earned All-America honors in the 200- and 1,650-yard freestyle events last March at the NCAA Championships.
Texas senior Jonathan Roberts represented the U.S. in the 400m individual medley final and placed eighth at 4:25.50. The Southlake native anchored the Americans to silver in the 4x200m freestyle relay on Friday.
