Men's Tennis trio advances to main draw semifinals at Cajun Tennis Classic

LAFAYETTE, La. – Texas sent four Longhorns to the singles semifinals, including three to the main draw semifinals, of their respective draws Friday on day one of the John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic.
Junior Rodrigo Banzer knocked out a pair of Southeastern Conference foes, and he ended the day with a win over a top-50 opponent. Banzer defeated LSU's Gabor Csonka in the first round of the main singles draw, 6-4, 7-6. He followed up with a 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (4) win over Kentucky's 42nd-ranked Ryo Matsumara to earn a spot in Saturday's semifinal against Texas teammate John Mee.
Mee started off his day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Oklahoma State's Artur Dubinski. He added a 6-4, 6-2 win over Louisiana's Jamie Fraser to reach the semifinals. With Mee's result, at least one Longhorn will compete in Sunday's final, which will air live on ESPN.com and the ESPN mobile application (start time TBA).
Junior Leonardo Telles led off with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Eleftherious Theodorou of Oklahoma State in the first singles flight. He added a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Artem Kapshuk of Texas Tech in the quarterfinals.
Junior Colin Markes reached the semifinals in flight two of singles. The Austin native defeated Louisiana's Vlad Kramarov (6-4, 6-4) in the first round and advanced via walkover in the ensuing round.
Texas junior Harrison Scott competed at the Oracle ITA Masters event and held on for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over California's Jack Malloy in the second round. He took on Baylor's Johannes Schretter in the quarterfinals and suffered a 6-1, 6-2 defeat.
