Men's Tennis sweeps singles and doubles titles at Cajun Tennis Classic

John Mee wins singles while Leonardo Telles and Rodrigo Banzer claim the doubles title.
LAFAYETTE, La. – Texas senior John Mee won the singles title, and his teammates Leonardo Telles and Rodrigo Banzer claimed the doubles title to finish off a Longhorns sweep Sunday at the John Breaux Cajun Tennis Classic.
Mee took on Telles in an all-Longhorn singles final. broke Telles for a 3-1 first-set lead in the singles final. Both sides held serve the rest of the set, which Mee closed out, 6-3. Mee broke Telles for a 2-1 lead in the second set, and with a 5-3 lead, he broke Telles once more to close out a 6-3, 6-3 win.
"I'm excited to see John do this well this weekend," said 18th-year UT head coach Michael Center. "He has struggled with injuries here and there the last couple years, and it was really terrific to see him come through a draw like this one and win the tournament. Leo (Telles), Colin (Markes) and Rodrigo were outstanding all weekend, as well."
Telles joined Banzer after the singles final to take on Texas Tech's Artem Kapshuk and Connor Curry in the doubles final. Telles and Banzer made it a clean sweep for the Longhorns with their 6-3 win over the Red Raiders.
Junior Colin Markes took part in the final of singles flight two and rallied for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 win over LSU's Nikola Samardzic.
Texas resumes fall tournament play next week at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa.
