Athletes from across the nation in the high school, collegiate and professional ranks will return to Texas to compete in the running of one of the most elite meets held in the nation.
The meet will begin with some of the top athletes in the collegiate multi-events competing against each other in the decathlon and heptathlon to open the first two days of the meet. Collegiate field events begin at 11 a.m. Thursday with the first running events slated for 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The final two days of the Texas Relays will be full of action with prelims and finals for dozens of events all day Friday and Saturday. Friday's slate of action begins at 9 a.m. with a full day of high school and college racing as well as field events. Then, Saturday will start at 8:15 a.m. with exciting finals action all day at Myers Stadium.
Longhorn Network will provide extensive live television coverage of the Texas Relays again after airing 14 hours of action last year. A specific broadcast schedule for the meet will be announced by the network and Texas Athletics as the meet grows closer on the calendar.
Ticket prices and sale dates will be announced later for the 91st Texas Relays.
Last year's Texas Relays saw 14 meet records broken, including six on the last day of action. The 90th Texas Relays last year also saw two world records broken in the pole vault in respective age groups and a collegiate record in the decathlon.
This year's meet should not be short on excitement and will serve as the first home meet of the season for the Texas Track & Field teams. The Longhorns will also hold the Texas Invitational on April 13-14.
