The Big 12 Conference honored D’Shawn Jamison for the first time in his career.
AUSTIN, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced D'Shawn Jamison as its Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday following his performance at Kansas State. It is the first weekly honor for Jamison in his career.
Jamison got the Longhorns on the board in their first win over K-State in Manhattan since 2002, returning a punt 90 yards for his first career touchdown. It was the 31st punt return for a touchdown in school history, and the first since the season opener against Maryland last year. In addition, it was the fourth-longest punt return for a touchdown in school history.
Jamison became the first Longhorn true freshman with a punt return for a touchdown since Selvin Young in 2002. He is just the third true freshman in school history with a punt return for a touchdown, as Mike Adams also had one in 1992.
The Longhorns and Jamison take their four-game winning streak with them into this weekend's AT&T Red River Showdown against Oklahoma. Kickoff from inside the Cotton Bowl in Dallas is set for 11 a.m. and will be on FOX.
