AUSTIN, Texas — The Longhorn Football team will play a home-and-home series with Southeastern Conference power Georgia in 2028 and 2029, University of Texas Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte announced on Monday. Texas is scheduled to host Georgia on Sept. 2, 2028 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and will travel to Sanford Stadium in Athens to play the Bulldogs on Sept. 1, 2029.
Texas has played Georgia four times with the Longhorns holding a 3-1 advantage. The last meeting came on Jan. 2, 1984, in the Cotton Bowl following the 1983 regular season. The No. 2 Longhorns fell, 10-9, to No. 7 Georgia in that game. UT knocked off No. 8 Georgia in the 1949 Orange Bowl, 41-28, following the 1948 regular season. Texas and Georgia have met in one other home-and-home series with the Longhorns winning in Athens in 1957, 26-7, and in Austin in 1958, 13-8.
