No. 5 Volleyball signs two for 2019

The Longhorns will welcome Skylar Fields and Molly Phillips to the squad in 2019.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 5 Texas Volleyball will welcome Skylar Fields and Molly Phillips to the Longhorns in 2019, Head Coach Jerritt Elliott announced on Wednesday.
Fields, a 6-2 opposite out of Missouri City, Texas, comes in as the No. 1 player on PrepVolleyball's Senior Aces list and the No. 2 Franchise Player (PrepVolleyball). She was named to the 2018 Junior National Team, leading Team USA to the JNT U20-NORCECA Continental Championship.
She is No. 1 in the PrepVolleyball 10-foot Club, touching 10'8". She was named a USA Today All-American, a PrepVolleyball All-American and was No. 17 on USA Today's Super 19.
In 2016, Fields was named to the USA Youth National Team and the JVA All-National Team. She led the YNT to a runner-up finish at the U18 NORCECA Continental Championship. She was also named to the 2017 USA YNT, finishing eighth at the World Championships.
Out of Ridge Point High School, Fields holds the school record of 25 kills in a match, was named Ridge Point High School Most Valuable Player in 2016 and MVP for District 20-6A.
"Skylar has had a great amount of experience with USA Volleyball," Elliott said. "She has the physicality to be a dominant player. She possesses great physical skills and we are excited to get her in our gym to develop her overall skill set. She's a home-grown talent and will be a great addition to the strong players we currently have."
Phillips, a 6-5 middle blocker from Mansfield, Texas, is PrepVolleyball's No. 16 player on the Senior Aces list. She was named to the 2018 PrepVolleyball All-America First Team, PrepVolleyball top-50 Juniors list, and earned 2018 Under Armour All-American Second Team honors.
She was selected to the USA U20 Women's National Team in 2018, earning the gold medal at the NORCECA Championship.
Phillips was named to the 2018 USA Nationals All-Tournament Team with a third-place finish, the 2018 VolleyballMag.com/Triple Crown Sports 25 Underclassmen to watch list, and was a Star-Telegram's Tomlinson Honors Player of the Year nominee.
Out of Mansfield High School, Phillips was a four-time All-District First Team honoree. She was named the 2015 All-District Newcomer of the Year, the 2016 All-District Blocker MVP, the 2017 All-District Hitter MVP, and the 2018 All-District Hitter of the Year.
"We are really excited about Molly," Elliott said. "We feel she has a similar game and mindset to what Morgan Johnson brings to the floor. She's 6-5 and believe still she's still growing into the game, but we love the way that she sees and how she thinks about the game."
The Longhorns will only lose seniors Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani and Morgan Johnson after the 2018 season.
