Cornish and O'Brien take mixed 3-meter synchro at USA Diving Winter Trials

Jacob Cornish and Meghan O'Brien qualify for the FINA Grand Prix in April
ATLANTA, Ga. - University of Texas senior Meghan O'Brien and junior Jacob Cornish won the national title in the mixed 3-meter synchro event on the first day of competition at the 2018 USA Diving Winter Trials on Sunday afternoon.
The Longhorn divers were the only competitors in the event, but the pair finished the finals with a score of 263.70. Cornish and O'Brien threw their top dive of the afternoon in the final round with a back 2.5 pike for a total of 65.70 points. With their win, the pair qualified for the 2019 FINA Grand Prix in April in California.
The Winter Trials will continue tomorrow in Atlanta with the women's platform synchro final and men's 3-meter synchro final. Murphy Bromberg and Jordan Windle will compete for the Longhorns tomorrow with Cornish and O'Brien returning for the 1-meter prelims on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
