ATLANTA, Ga. – Redshirt senior Murphy Bromberg and sophomore Jordan Windle earned medals on the second day of the 2018 USA Diving Winter Trials at the McAuley Aquatic Center. The Longhorn diving contingent has won four medals in the first two days of competition after Meghan O'Brien and Jacob Cornish won the mixed 3-meter synchro event yesterday in Atlanta.
Bromberg and her partner, Katrina Young of Florida State University, won the 10m synchro finals with a score of 601.32. Bromberg and Young threw the best two dives of the finals in the third and fourth rounds. On their third and fourth dives, the pair earned 72.90 points on a forward 3.5 somersault pike and then went with an inward 3.5 somersault tuck for a finals-high of 78.72 points.
Texas sophomore Jordan Windle teamed with former Longhorn standout Mark Anderson to earn a silver medal in the 3-meter synchro event. The pair completed the finals with a score of 755.79 after earning their high-score of 80.58 on their fifth and final dive with a forward 2.5 somersault 2 twist pike.
With the results today, Bromberg, Windle and Anderson will join Cornish and O'Brien in Mission Viejo, Calif. for the 2019 FINA Diving Grand Prix in April. The USA Diving Winter Trials in Atlanta will continue tomorrow with Bromberg and Alison Gibson competing in the women's 3-meter synchro and Cornish in the men's platform synchro event.
