- The No. 12 Texas women's basketball team travels to Edinburg, Texas, to face UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday. Tip-off at UTRGV Fieldhouse is slated for 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on the WAC Digital Network and will be available on 105.3 FM in Austin and www.texassports.com/audio.
- The Series: Texas and UT Rio Grande Valley [formerly UT-Pan American] meet for the eighth time in the history of the two programs. The Longhorns lead the all-time series 7-0. The two teams have not previously met in Edinburg. UT and UTRGV last met December 15, 2016 - an 85-61 win for the Longhorns. Texas is 10-0 all-time against teams in the current alignment of the Western Athletic Conference.
- On The Boards: Texas has held or tied for the rebounding advantage in nine of the 10 games it has played this season and 98 of the last 115 games overall. The Longhorns rank eighth nationally in rebound margin at +13.5 and 22nd nationally in rebounds per game at 44.60.
- Sweet Like Sug[ar]: Junior Sug Sutton is in her first season as the starting point guard for the Longhorns, but she is quickly beginning to emerge as one of the nation's top point guards. She ranks 23rd nationally in total assists [58] and is 31st in assists per game [5.8]. Sutton also averages 9.6 points per game and leads her team in rebounding with 5.6 boards per game.
- A Balanced Effort: The Longhorns are finding success through a balanced effort this season. Six active players are averaging 6.0 points per game or better, led by senior Jatarie White's 11.3 points per game. White is the only active Texas player to average double-figure points this season. Six players are averaging 20 or more minutes per game, while 10 players average better than 10 minutes per game. Sutton is the only player averaging more than 30 minutes per game [30.9].
- Up Next: Texas breaks for the winter holidays before returning to action on Saturday, December 29, when it plays host to Northwestern State. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. CT and the game will be nationally televised by Longhorn Network.
