AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Track & Field will open its 2018 outdoor season on Friday night when a trio of javelin throwers head to the UTSA Invitational. Action for the two-day meet starts at 1 p.m. Friday and the javelin is slated for 5 p.m.
Senior Fabian Dohmann will throw for the men at 5 with fellow seniors Haley Crouser and Lauryn Caldwell set to compete after the completion of the men's javelin. Crouser won this meet last year and set a UTSA Invitational meet record with her throw of 51.41 meters (168-8).
Caldwell is attempting to make history this season. She already holds the school record indoors in the weight throw and outdoors in the hammer throw. She also ranks in the top 10 in school history for the shot put indoors and out and also in the discus. If she can improve her personal best mark in the javelin by 9 feet 6 inches, Caldwell will end her career as the only woman in school history to rank in the top 10 in all six throwing events.
