AUSTIN, Texas – No. 19 Texas (14-5, 2-1 Big 12) captured the doubles point and put away three straight-sets singles victories in a 4-0 win over No. 14 Oklahoma (17-4, 2-2 Big 12) Sunday afternoon at Texas Tennis Center. The Longhorns post their second top-15 victory of the weekend heading into their season-ending road trip later this week.
Texas sophomore Yuya Ito and junior Colin Markes picked up an early break on OU's James Davis and Max Stewart en route to a 6-2 win at third doubles. Likewise at second doubles, UT sophomore Christian Sigsgaard and junior Harrison Scott picked up an early break on OU's 61st-ranked tandem of Adrian Oetzbach and Ferran Calvo.
Leading 5-3, Sigsgaard fought off multiple break points on his serve then finished off the Sooners with a perfect volley at the net, as UT closed out a 6-3 win and claimed the doubles point.
UT junior Rodrigo Banzer staked the Horns to a 2-0 cushion behind his 6-3, 6-1 victory over Jochen Bertsch at fifth singles. Sigsgaard had little trouble with OU's Oetzbach at second singles and put away a 6-3, 6-2 win for a 3-0 Texas lead.
Longhorns junior Adrian Ortiz nailed down UT's victory over the Sooners with his 6-4, 6-2 win over Stewart at sixth singles. The remaining three courts were suspended.
Texas closes out the regular season on the road against Texas Tech and Baylor. The Horns meet the Red Raiders on Thursday (April 19) in Lubbock before visiting the 24th-ranked Bears next Sunday (April 22) in Waco.
