The Curtis Cup will take place June 8-10 at Quaker Ridge Golf Club outside New York City.
Senior Texas golfer Sophia Schubert has been named to the United States team for the 2018 Curtis Cup, the USGA announced Tuesday.
The Curtis Cup will take place June 8-10 at Quaker Ridge Golf Club outside New York City. The United States will compete against Great Britain and Ireland in the 40th biennial matches. Schubert attended the training session held at Shoal Creek (Ala.) in December.
Schubert, the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur Champion, is on pace for a record-setting senior season for the Longhorns. Schubert, who set the school's single-season stroke average last season at 72.49, currently leads her team this year with a stroke average of 71.20. She is on the watch list for the prestigious ANNIKA Award.
Schubert has participated in five tournaments for the Longhorns in 2017-18, recording top-10 individual finishes in each of those five events, including four top-five showings. She is a two-time Big 12 Golfer of the Month, earning that accolade in both October and November.
Schubert claimed individual medalist honors at the Betsy Rawls Invitational with a six-under-par three-round total of 210 (69-70-71). She became the eighth all-time Longhorn and first since 2011 to win the event.
Schubert is ranked sixth nationally in the latest Golfstat women's individual player ranking and 20th in the world, according to the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking.
