Volleyball’s Bedart-Ghani, White earn academic awards

Senior Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani and junior Micaya White were honored at the 2018 Texas Athletics Academic Award banquet.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Volleyball's Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani and Micaya White earned honors at the 2018 Texas Athletics Academic Award banquet on Wednesday night.
Bedart-Ghani was one of two athletes at the University of Texas to earn the Academic Excellence and Spirit Award, while White was named Volleyball's team Academic Most Valuable Player.
Bedart-Ghani averaged 1.81 kills per set and 0.53 blocks per set in 18 matches. She is on track to graduate in December with a degree in Human Dimensions of Organizations.
White led the Longhorns in kills during the 2017 with 3.40 kills per set and 2.63 digs per set. She earned All-America honors for the second-straight year and is studying psychology.
