Baseball adds four to 2018 class

The Longhorns have added four student-athletes to their 2018 class.
AUSTIN, Texas—In addition to the 16 who signed National Letters of Intent in November, Texas Baseball has added infielders Lance Ford, Tanner Haney, and Greyson Lembcke, as well as catcher Caston Peter to its 2018 class.
Lance Ford | INF | L/R | 5-10 | 175 | Tivy HS | Kerrville, Texas
Personal: Son of Bret and Charlene Ford…his brother, Trevor, is a sophomore at Texas.
High school: Is a four-year letter-winner and starter at Tivy High School under head coach Chris Russ…named a a Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason All-American as a senior…as a junior, was named All-District and All-State and earned All-District honors as a sophomore…also lettered in football as a quarterback during his sophomore and junior seasons at Tivy.
I chose Texas because: "… I have wanted to be a Longhorn since I first started playing baseball at the age of five. It has always been my dream school and now it is a reality. I can't wait to play for such a storied and elite program."
Tanner Haney | INF | R/R | 5-10 | 160 | Waco HS | Waco, Texas
Personal: Son of Todd and Kira Haney…his father, Todd, played at Texas from 1986-87 before spending 13 seasons in professional baseball, spending time in the majors with the Cubs, Mets, and Expos…his mother, Kira, is a television broadcaster and was the Texas Relays Queen in 1988.
High school: As a senior, named a Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason All-American…was named first team All-District last season as a junior at Waco High School…earned first team All-District honors and honorable mention All-State honors as a sophomore at Reicher Catholic High School.
I chose Texas because: "… I was raised in a Longhorn family and it has always been my dream to play baseball for the University of Texas. Playing at UT gives me the opportunity to compete against the best with the expectation of playing in the College World Series every year."
Greyson Lembcke | INF | R/R | 5-10 | 190 | Klein HS | Spring, Texas
Personal: Son of Brian and Ashley Lembcke…has three brothers, Bennett, Hudson, and Bankston…Bennett is a sophomore architecture major at Texas.
High school: Is a two-sport athlete at Klein High School, serving as Klein's starting quarterback for the past three seasons…as QB, was twice named Team MVP and also earned Academic All-District honors…was named Klein Baseball's Defensive Player of the Year and Outstanding Newcomer last season.
I chose Texas because: "…it felt like the perfect fit. The baseball program is incredible. It's also close to home, the education is great, and I know almost all of the recruits for the 2018 class. In addition, my brother is a sophomore at UT. It couldn't get any better than that."
Caston Peter | C | R/R | 6-0 | 200 | Stratford HS | Houston, Texas
Personal: Son of Kevin and Melissa Peter…has two brothers, Jacob and Grayson…is co-valedictorian at Stratford and is ranked No. 1 in his class academically.
High school: Is a four-year letterman/starting catcher at Stratford under head coach Keith Humphreys…as a junior, was named second team All-District catcher and a Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association Jr. All-Star…earned honorable mention All-District as a sophomore.
I chose Texas because: "…the opportunity to play at such a respected program while getting one of the best educations in the country was something I couldn't pass up. Playing D-I baseball has always been my goal, but playing for the University of Texas fulfills a dream."
