- The No. 8 University of Texas women's golf team opens its 2018-19 season at the prestigious ANNIKA Intercollegiate at Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn., this Monday through Wednesday. It is the second consecutive year in which the Longhorns will be part of the highly decorated field. The Longhorns tied for a fourth-place finish at the 2017 ANNIKA Intercollegiate last October.
- The 12-team field features 11 teams ranked among the nation's top-25, according to the WGCA Preseason Rankings, including nine top-10 squads. Among the participants are 2018 NCAA Champion Arizona and 2018 NCAA runner-up Alabama. From an individual standpoint, the field includes eight of the top-25 players in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and players at the event represent 18 different countries.
- Play on the par-72, 6,267-yard course begins with tee times starting at 9 a.m. CT Monday. The teams will play 54 holes - 18 each on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
- The incoming 2018 freshman class of Hailee Cooper and Sára Kousková was ranked as the nation's No. 3 recruiting class by Golfweek. Both Cooper and Kousková are in this week's lineup.
- Sophomore Kaitlyn Papp is the defending Big 12 Conference Player and Freshman of the Year. She was a WGCA Second-Team All-American in 2018. She earned two individual victories, recorded five bogey-free rounds, posted eight top-10 finishes, had 20 rounds at par or better and ranked second on her team with a stroke average of 72.05.
- Junior Emilee Hoffman won the 2018 Women's Western Amateur Championship this summer. She was an All-Big 12 Conference honoree last season and a Golfweek honorable mention All-America selection.
- This is the 45th season of varsity competition for the Longhorns.
- Texas head coach Ryan Murphy enters his fifth season at the helm of the Texas women's golf program. Under the direction of Murphy, the 2017 and 2018 Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year, Texas golfers have recorded 14 of the best 16 18-hole scores in program history, and 11 of the top 13 54-hole totals in school annals. Each of the top seven 18-hole team scores in school history have come during Murphy's tenure. Additionally, each of the top eight 54-hole team scores in program history have been charted by Murphy's teams.
