COMPLETE GAME NOTES
The Opening Kickoff
• The University of Texas is in its 126th season of playing football and owns 898 all-time wins, third-most in college football history. UT holds an all-time record of 898-367-33 (.704).
• Texas is 107-15-3 (.868) all-time in home openers. UT has won 17 of its last 18 home openers.
• The Longhorns are 74-17-3 (.803) all-time in openers at Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium, dating back to the first game in the middle of the 1924 season.
• UT enters Saturday's game coming off a 34-29 loss to Maryland. Six of the Longhorns' seven losses under Tom Herman have come by 10 points or fewer, while five of them have been by seven points or fewer.
• Tulsa comes into the game following a 38-27 victory over Central Arkansas at home in week one. The Golden Hurricane finished 2-10 in 2017.
• The Longhorns are in the midst of another challenging slate in 2018, squaring off against 11 of their 12 opponents from a season ago. The only new opponent will be Tulsa, who the Longhorns have never played prior to 2018.
• Eight of UT's 2018 opponents played in a bowl game in 2017.
• Of the 64 Power Five Conference schools, just 12 (18.8%) play two Power Five opponents in the non-conference portion of the schedule. The Longhorns, who travel to Maryland and host USC, are one of those 12 schools.
• Furthermore, Texas is one of just seven schools nationally (California, Northwestern, Ohio State, USC, Purdue and West Virginia) to play a schedule with 11 Power Five opponents on it.
• The Longhorns are the only program in college football to play 11 Power Five Conference opponents in each regular season from 2015-18.
• Five Longhorns made their first career starts in Saturday's game at Maryland, including true freshmen WR Brennan Eagles and S Caden Sterns. In addition, LT Calvin Anderson, DT Ta'Quon Graham and RB Tre Watson picked up their first Longhorn start.
2018 Hall of Honor Class
• Texas Athletics will induct a distinguished and decorated 15-person class into its 2018 Hall of Honor on Friday night. The new members will receive a special salute during halftime of the game vs. Tulsa.
• The 62nd Men's Hall of Honor class includes Justin Blalock (Football, 2003-06), two-time All-American and member of the 2005 National Championship team who played eight seasons in the NFL; J. Brent Cox (Baseball, 2003-05), first-team All-American and 2005 NCBWA Stopper of the Year who led Texas to the 2005 National Championship; Derrick Dockery (Football, 1999-2002), first-team All-American who played 10 seasons in the NFL; Troy Dumais (Swimming and Diving, 1999-2002), seven-time NCAA individual diving champion who led Texas to three straight national team titles and went on to become the only four-time Olympian in Texas Swimming and Diving history; Michael Griffin (Football, 2003-06), second-team All-American and member of the 2005 National Championship team who played 10 seasons in the NFL; and Leo Manzano (Track and Field, 2005-08), five-time NCAA Champion, 11-time All-American and two-time Olympian. Vintage selections Bill Hamilton (Football, 1973-76); Dan Krueger (Basketball, 1972-76); and Gary Plock (Tennis, 1975-78), in addition to Special Selection Chip Robertson (Equipment Manager, 1993-present) round out the men's class.
• The 19th Women's Hall of Honor class includes Jodi Reeves Boatright (Softball, 1997-2000), a 1998 second-team All-American who helped the Longhorns advance to the Women's College World Series; Ruth Stiver Dew (Rowing, 2000-04), the first rower in program history to earn first-team All-America honors and who helped UT's first varsity eight boat make its first two appearances at the NCAA Championship; Vicki Hall (Basketball, 1988-93), a three-time first-team All-Southwest Conference selection who led Texas to three SWC regular season titles and a member of the SWC All-Decade Team for the 1990s; Kim Rhodenbaugh Lewallen (Swimming and Diving, 1984-87), three-time NCAA Champion, 10-time All-American and member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team; and Telisa Young (Track and Field, 1989-94), a two-time NCAA individual champion and four-time All-American in the triple jump.
• The Men's Hall of Honor was founded in 1957. The governing body, the Longhorn Hall of Honor Council, is made up exclusively of men who have lettered at UT. To be eligible for nomination, a letterman must have completed his eligibility 10 years prior to the year of election. The six honorees receiving a majority of votes are inducted. In addition, the Council can add a limited number of vintage or special selections to that year's class.
• The Women's Hall of Honor was created in 2000. To be eligible for nomination, a former student-athlete must have completed her collegiate eligibility five years prior to the year of election. The Women's Hall of Honor Selection Committee considers both a candidate's contribution to the Texas Athletics program and the candidate's contributions to her community. A maximum of five former student-athletes and one additional non-athlete per year may be inducted into the Women's Hall of Honor.
Fan Experience Enhancements in 2018

Each game will feature a pregame concert in the Live Music Capital of the World. Jimmy Vaughan headlines Saturday's pregame concert and The Nightowls will open for him.
• Inside the stadium, Texas announced fan first menu prices.
Honoring Frank Denius
• Longhorn supporter and American hero Frank Denius (DEEN-e-us, rhymes with genius) passed away on July 29th, right before preseason camp began. He was 93. The Longhorns have a daily reminder of Denius, however, as they practice at Denius Fields.
• Denius attended 72 straight Red River Showdowns and missed just three home football games in 57 years - one of which was to receive a Congressional Medal of Honor.
• Prior to Saturday's game, UT will hold a moment of silence in memory of Denius. In addition, his seat in Section 4, Row 15, Seat 26 will be memorialized and kept empty for the 2018 season.
• The Longhorns have kept memory of his daily attendance at practice with a photo and flowers near the light pole he stood by to watch practice each day.
• A decorated World War II veteran, Denius graduated from UT with dual degrees in business and law in 1949.
• The Longhorns' special teams units are named Special Forces for Denius, and their kickoff unit is named after Denius' Operation Cobra. In memory of Denius, the entire team is wearing "FD" decals in 2018 and each member of the kickoff unit will wear a special Cobra Strike helmet decal throughout the season. More information about the naming of UT's special teams units can be found on page 6.
