NOTES
- It's a meeting between mentor and pupil on Saturday when the Texas women's basketball team faces North Texas at the Rainbow Wahine Showdown. Tip-off at the Stan Sheriff Center is slated for 4 p.m. CT and the game will be carried on the radio at 105.3 FM in Austin and at TexasSports.com/audio online.
- Texas-North Texas Ties: Texas head coach Karen Aston served as head coach at North Texas during the 2011-12 season, posting a 15-16 record. She was also an assistant coach at North Texas from 1996-98. Aston recruited Jalie Mitchell at North Texas and Mitchell later served as an assistant for Aston at both North Texas [2011-12] and Texas [2012-15].
- The Series: Texas and North Texas are meeting for the 14th time in the history of the two programs with the Longhorns leading 13-0. The two teams faced one another last season in Denton, a game that Texas won 64-54 on Nov. 12, 2018.
- Double Trouble: Texas leads the nation with 12 double-doubles so far this season. Senior forward Joyner Holmes is on a streak of six consecutive double-doubles to open the year, which has tied the Texas school record for most consecutive double-dips. Sophomore center Charli Collier has five double-doubles and senior guard Lashann Higgs has one double-double this year.
- Joining The Club: Entering Saturday's game, senior forward Joyner Holmes is 12 points away from becoming the 44th member of UT's 1,000-point club. Holmes has 988 career points and will play her 91st game in a Texas uniform on Saturday.
- On The Boards: Success on the boards has been a staple of Texas teams for many years. In fact the Longhorns have tied or won the rebounding battle in 123 of their last 144 games overall, including five of six games this season. The Longhorns hold a +12.7 rebounding margin.
- Among the Nation's Best: Texas has 1,091 all-time victories in its program history and ranks sixth all-time against NCAA Division I teams. The Longhorns have also won 73.1 percent of their games all-time.
