WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana — Junior point guard Matt Coleman III tallied a game-high 22 points and 7 assists to pace The University of Texas Men's Basketball team (2-0) to a 70-66 win against No. 23/22 Purdue (1-1) on Saturday night at Mackey Arena. The Texas victory snapped Purdue's 18-game home court win streak, the fourth-longest streak in the nation entering the contest.
Sophomore forward Gerald Liddell made his first collegiate start and responded with a career-high 14 points (5-7 FG), 8 rebounds and 4 assists in 35 minutes. Junior guard Jase Febres posted 11 points (3-8 threes) and junior forward Jericho Sims added 10 points.
Trailing 62-57 at the 3:14 mark after a pair of free throws by Purdue's Eric Hunter Jr., the Longhorns closed the game on a 13-4 run. Coleman (2-2) and redshirt sophomore Andrew Jones (4-4) went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the final 21 seconds to seal the win.

- Texas snapped Purdue's 18-game home court win streak, the fourth-longest streak in the nation entering the contest. Since the start of the 2017-18 season, the Boilermakers entered tonight's contest with a 32-1 mark at Mackey Arena (only previous loss was 64-63 to Ohio State in 2018).
