No. 6 Men’s Tennis takes 6-1 victory at Tulsa

The Longhorns remain unbeaten in dual match play at 8-0 after winning their first true road match of the season.
Tulsa, Okla. – The No. 6 Texas Men's Tennis team played its first true road match of the season and picked up a 6-1 win at Tulsa on Friday to remain perfect in dual match play this season at 8-0.
In singles play, senior Colin Markes opened things up for the Longhorns at the sixth spot with a solid 6-1, 6-1 win over Daniel Siddall for his eighth-straight singles win. Freshman Chih Chi Huang quickly followed with his 12th-straight singles victory by taking a 6-4, 6-0 win over Boriss Kamdem in fifth singles for a 3-0 Texas lead. Junior No. 6 Christian Sigsgaard then clinched the match for the Longhorns with an impressive third set to top No. 73 Majed Kilani (6-2, 3-6, 6-1) in first singles.
The teams played out the singles matches and junior No. 14 Yuya Ito rebounded after dropping his opening set and trailing 2-1 in the second to claim a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Joshua Goodger in second singles. It was Ito's 11th straight singles victory and gave the Longhorns a 5-0 lead. The top three singles matches all went to a third set and senior Leoardo Telles capped the overall match extending all the way to a third set tiebreaker, taking the last three points for a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (5) win over Jarod Hing. Senior Harrison Scott took the only loss for the Longhorns as he fell in a second-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 7-6 (5), to Kody Pearson in fourth singles.
Texas opened the match taking the doubles point. Markes and Telles jumped out early in second doubles and maintained their lead for a 6-3 win over Pearson and Siddall. Huang and Ito then rallied from a 5-4 deficit to take three straight games for a 7-5 win over Kamdem and Tom Thelwall-Jones in third doubles to clinch the point. In first doubles, No. 13 Scott and Sigsgaard left their match unfinished tied 5-5 against Kilani and Hing.
The Longhorns continue their road trip by heading to Fayetteville, Ark., to face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
