Johnson named to Biletnikoff Award watch list

Texas senior WR Collin Johnson was named to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which honors college football’s top receiver.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas senior wide receiver Collin Johnson was named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list for the second time in his career on Tuesday. Johnson previously was a candidate for the award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding college receiver in the country, in 2018, along with being in contention for the Wuerffel Trophy and Walter Camp Award.
Johnson, a native of San Jose, Calif., is a fourth-year wide receiver who has played in 38 games with 22 starts during his UT career. He enters his senior season with 150 receptions (ninth-most in school history) for 2,065 yards (ninth-most in school history) and 12 touchdowns. In 2018, Johnson played in 13 games and was second on the team with 68 catches for 985 yards and seven touchdowns. He recorded seven receptions and racked up 124 receiving yards with a touchdown in the win over No. 17 TCU, and was later named The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week for his efforts against the Horned Frogs.
Johnson also logged six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown in Texas' 48-45 win over No. 7 Oklahoma, 11 catches for 132 yards and a score in a triumph over Baylor and set a Big 12 Championship Game-record with 177 receiving yards on nine catches with a touchdown against the Sooners. Johnson concluded a productive junior season with three catches for 40 yards in the Longhorns' 28-21 win over No. 5 Georgia in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., will announce the 10 Biletnikoff Award semifinalists on Nov. 18, 2019, following the vote by the distinguished members of the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee. Likewise, the three finalists will be declared, following another vote, on Nov. 25, 2019.
