BANGKOK, Thailand – Freshman Texas women's basketball player Celeste Taylor led the United States U19 team to a 79-61 victory against Germany on Wednesday, propelling the U.S. to the quarterfinals at the FIBA U19 Women's World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand.
Taylor finished with 13 points [6-of-12 from the field], five rebounds and five steals in 28 minutes in Wednesday's round of 16 game.
The United States [4-0] marches on to a quarterfinal match-up with Canada [3-1] on Friday at a time to be determined. Canada advanced with an 82-50 win against Argentina on Wednesday. The quarterfinal match-up will be streamed live at YouTube.com/FIBA.
"We had a hard time on the offensive end in the first half," Taylor said.
