Football ranked No. 10 in preseason coaches poll

The Longhorns garnered their first preseason top-10 ranking in the Amway Coaches Poll since 2010.
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas Football program is ranked No. 10 in the Amway Coaches Poll preseason rankings, which were released on Thursday. It is the Longhorns' first preseason top-10 ranking in the coaches poll since 2010, when they entered the season at No. 4.
Texas has been ranked in six of the last nine preseason coaches polls since the end of the 2010 season, peaking as high as No. 15 (2012 & 2013) before Thursday's top-10 mark.
Head coach Tom Herman enters his third season at the helm and the Longhorns have won 17 games during his first two seasons, highlighted by a 10-4 record and Allstate Sugar Bowl victory over No. 5 Georgia last year.
Texas will face a challenging schedule once again in 2019, as eight of its opponents qualified for bowl games a season ago, and five of those were victorious in their postseason efforts. In 2019, 10 of UT's regular-season games will be contested in the state of Texas. The Longhorns will only leave the Lone Star State to face West Virginia in Morgantown on Oct. 5 and to visit Iowa State in Ames on Nov. 16.
The 2019 season opens at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Aug. 31, when the Longhorns face Louisiana Tech. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on Longhorn Network.

The 2019 schedule is highlighted by a marquee non-conference home game with Southeastern Conference power LSU on Sept. 7 (6:30 p.m. Central; presented by St. David's HealthCare). Due to overwhelming demand, single game tickets for the LSU game will not be available for the general public. More than 60,000 season tickets have already been sold for the 2019 campaign, including more than 7,000 new seats.
