Smokey's Midway joins Football pregame tailgating options

New action-packed area debuts, along with Bevo Blvd. enhancements, prior to Aug. 31 season opener vs. Louisiana Tech.

Following the success of Bevo Blvd. and Longhorn City Limits, Texas Athletics is proud to announce the addition of Smokey's Midway for the 2019 Texas Football season. Located on the north end of DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium along DeLoss Dodds Way, this fan experience is the perfect bridge connecting Bevo Blvd. presented by H-E-B and Longhorn City Limits presented by ATX Web Designs.
"The response from Longhorn Nation to Bevo Blvd. and Longhorn City Limits was phenomenal last season," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Chris Del Conte. "By adding Smokey's Midway, we intend to give fans an experience that brings a State Fair-type atmosphere to gamedays."
The area, named after UT's iconic Smokey the Cannon, features a variety of midway games with great prizes, interactive attractions, unique fair-style food, and additional food trucks and beverage stations. Smokey's Midway also provides fans access to The Frank Denius Family University of Texas Athletics Hall of Fame.
In addition to Smokey's Midway, several enhancements will greet fans at Bevo Blvd. presented by H-E-B this season:
- Increased number of local Austin food trucks from six to approximately 12 per game
- Increased number of beverage locations throughout Bevo Blvd. and Smokey's Midway, including the addition of a craft beer barge and a margarita van
- New exclusive merchandise options at Texas Longhorns Official Team Shop locations
- Longhorn Network's Texas GameDay live broadcast originates from the north end of Bevo Blvd. beginning two hours prior to kickoff
- The Bevo XV Parade presented by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance starts at the north end of Bevo Blvd. when Bevo arrives three hours prior to kickoff
- Brand-new Texas Longhorns-themed inflatable games for families to enjoy
Fans can still enjoy happy hour pricing* on Bevo Blvd., Smokey's Midway, and Longhorn City Limits including $5 16-oz. domestic beers, $6 16-oz. premium beers and $5 wine spritzers.
SATURDAY, AUG. 31 TIMELINE
2 p.m.: Bevo Blvd. and Smokey's Midway open
3 p.m.: Texas Longhorns autograph session #1 (teams TBA)
4 p.m.: Bevo XV Parade presented by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance (line up on the north end of Bevo Blvd.)
4 p.m.: The official Texas Football pregame radio show on 104.9 The Horn begins
4 p.m.: Texas Exes Tailgate opens at Etter-Arbin Alumni Center
5 p.m.: Stadium Stampede (line up on the north end of Bevo Blvd.)
5 p.m.: LHN's Texas GameDay live broadcast begins from Bevo Blvd.
5:30 p.m.: Texas Longhorns autograph session #2 (teams TBA)
6:30 p.m.: Bevo Blvd. and Smokey's Midway close**
7 p.m.: Texas Football vs. Louisiana Tech (presented by Southwest Airlines) kickoff
Bevo Blvd., Smokey's Midway, and Longhorn City Limits are free for all fans. No game ticket is required! All activities and timeline subject to change.

**Bevo Blvd., Smokey's Midway, and Longhorn City Limits close 30 minutes prior to kickoff to allow fans with game tickets time to enter the stadium to see the Longhorn Band's pregame performance.
