Prince's former band and Emily Wolfe take the stage at LBJ Lawn prior to Texas-Kansas game.
The Revolution, Prince's former band, headlines Longhorn City Limits presented by ATX Web Designs on Saturday, Oct. 19 prior to the Texas Football vs. Kansas game. LCL returns to the LBJ Lawn, located on the northeast corner of DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, with FREE pregame and postgame activities. All concerts are FREE and open to the public.
Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z, BrownMark and Dr. Fink make up The Revolution, most commonly known as the band behind music icon Prince. One of the most successful musical acts of all time, the group merges funk, rock 'n' roll, rhythm and blues, pop and more. With the release of "Purple Rain," the band rose to international fame and prominence in the mid 1980s. Following the tragic passing of Prince in April 2016, The Revolution reunited to honor their fearless leader and pay tribute by playing the music they created with him. Fans can expect to hear iconic hits such as "Let's Go Crazy," "Purple Rain," "1999," "Kiss" and "When Doves Cry."
"We are beyond excited to welcome The Revolution to Longhorn City Limits in October," said Vice President and Director for Athletics Chris Del Conte. "With so many timeless hits that are the soundtrack of a generation, Texas fans are in for an unforgettable gameday experience."
Rounding out the Oct. 19 lineup is Austin native Emily Wolfe. Wolfe, who is known for her fierce live rock performances, released her self-titled album earlier this year including the singles "Rules To Bend" and "Holy Roller." Partnering with producer Ben Tanner who is also the keyboardist for Alabama Shakes, Wolfe created a unique sound that integrates traditional blues/rock elements with modern synths and samples.
The fan-favorite silent disco returns to Longhorn City Limits following the game. Featuring three live DJs, participating fans receive a pair of wireless headphones and the ability to choose between three different channels.
This season, LCL sees the addition of the Deep Eddy Lounge, a brand new cocktail garden featuring unique Texas-themed drinks for fans 21+. Fans can also enjoy happy hour pricing** at Longhorn City Limits including $5 16-oz. domestic beers, $6 16-oz. premium beers and $5 wine spritzers. Stubb's Bar-B-Q has multiple setups around the LBJ Lawn as well. Fans also have the opportunity to take photos with the new Longhorn City Limits oversized guitar monument and purchase exclusive LCL merchandise at the Texas Longhorns Official Team Shop located at the LBJ Lawn.
