No. 2 Women's Golf in second after opening day of Schooner Fall Classic

Emilee Hoffman led the Longhorns with a one-under-par 69.
NORMAN, Okla. – Senior Texas women's golfer Emilee Hoffman carded a one-under-par 69 on Friday to lead the No. 2 Longhorns on the opening day of the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
Texas is currently in second place – one stroke off the team lead – with a three-over-par 283. Host Oklahoma leads the field with a two-over-par 282. No. 25 Alabama is in third with a four-over-par 284. Belmar Golf Club is a par-70, 6,048-yard course for this year's Schooner Fall Classic.
Mississippi State's Clara Moyano leads the individual standings after a four-under-par 66. Hoffman is three strokes off the individual lead and tied with five others for fourth place.
Texas' 63 pars as a team on Friday was second-most in the field and the Longhorns also recorded 13 birdies. The Longhorns were second among all teams on par-three [3.12, +3], par-four [4.10, +5] and par-five [4.87, -2] holes in the opening round.
LINEUP AT A GLANCE
- Hoffman led the Longhorns with a one-under-par 69, which ties her for fourth overall. She recorded three birdies and 13 pars on Friday.
- Junior Kaitlyn Papp is tied for 10th overall with an even-par 70. Each of her four rounds this season have been at par or better. Her 16 pars on Friday tied for the individual lead.
- Sophomore Sara Kouskova is tied for 13th overall with a one-over-par 71.
- Sophomore Hailee Cooper and freshman Sophie Guo are tied for 28th overall with three-over-par 73s.
