- The No. 25 Texas women's basketball team plays its second game in a four-day span on Monday when it travels to Ames, Iowa, to face Iowa State. Tip-off at Hilton Coliseum is slated for 8 p.m. CT and the game will be nationally televised by FS1. The game will mark the 1,500th game in UT school history. The Longhorns are 1,096-403 [.731] all-time in the 46-year history of the program.
- The Series: Texas and Iowa State meet for the 39th time in the history of the two programs with the Cyclones leading the all-time series 20-18. The Longhorns have won seven of the last 10 meetings between the two teams, but Iowa State won two-of-three match-ups last season, including a semifinal victory at the 2019 Big 12 Conference Tournament. Texas has won each of the last four times the two teams have faced one another in Ames.
- Double Trouble: Texas leads the nation with 19 double-doubles this season. Sophomore center Charli Collier and senior forward Joyner Holmes each have nine double-doubles, which is tied for fourth nationally. Senior guard Lashann Higgs has one double-double on the year.
- Sophomore Strong: Sophomore center Charli Collier has had a breakout second year for the Longhorns. She is one of only six players in the Big 12 [Iowa State's Ashley Joens is one of the others] to be averaging a double-double with 14.2 points per game and 11.1 rebounds per game. Collier also ranks 11th nationally in rebounds per game and 22nd nationally in offensive rebounds per game with 4.2. She is 16th in the Big 12 in scoring and 11th in field-goal percentage.
- On The Boards: Success on the boards has been a staple of Texas teams for many years. In fact the Longhorns have tied or won the rebounding battle in 127 of their last 152 games overall, including nine of 13 games this season. The Longhorns hold a +10.3 rebounding margin, which ranks 19th nationally. Texas has reached 50 or more rebounds in four games this year.
- Next Up: Texas returns to action on Sunday, January 12, when it travels to Morgantown, W.Va., to face No. 19/21 West Virginia. Tip-off at WVU Coliseum is 12 p.m. CT on FSN.
