STILLWATER, Okla. – The Texas Football team picked up its first road win over a top-10 team since 2010 on Saturday with a 41-34 overtime victory against No. 6/6 Oklahoma State at Boone Pickens Stadium. The win pushes Texas to 4-2 (3-2 Big 12) this season and drops the Cowboys to 4-1 (3-1 Big 12).
KEY MOMENTS
• Oklahoma State marched down the field, capping a seven-play, 86-yard opening drive with a touchdown. QB Spencer Sanders connected with WR Tylan Wallace on an 11-yard pass for the score.
• Texas DL Jacoby Jones picked up a fumble on OSU's second offensive possession, and the Longhorns leveled the score with a 1-yard touchdown run from RB Keaontay Ingram in the first quarter. It was Ingram's first rushing touchdown of the season, and the 11th of his career.
• Jones and JACK Joseph Ossai came up with sacks on consecutive plays on the following Cowboy drive, with Ossai's coming first and Jones' on third-and-16, forcing Oklahoma State to punt.
• QB Sam Ehlinger connected with WR Brennan Eagles on a 41-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14-14 early in the second quarter.
• DB Jalen Green notched his first career interception on the ensuing Oklahoma State possession and returned it 41 yards to set up the Longhorns at the OSU 8-yard line. Texas was unable to punch it into the endzone, but Cameron Dicker booted a 20-yard field goal to give UT a 17-14 advantage, its first lead of the day.
• The Cowboys reclaimed the lead with a seven-play, 75-yard drive that concluded with Sanders finding RB Chuba Hubbard on a 5-yard touchdown pass, giving the Pokes a 21-17 advantage midway through the second quarter.
• With Oklahoma State driving late in the first half, Ossai logged his second sack of the game and stripped Sander. DL Ta'Quon Graham scooped up the ball and returned it 33 yards to set up Texas for a field goal that cut the deficit to four at halftime (OSU, 24-20).
• Ossai logged six tackles (four solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble in the first half of the game.
• Oklahoma State pushed its lead out to 31-20 with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Sanders to Wallace in the middle of the third quarter. DB D'Shawn Jamison immediately cut the deficit back to four with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. It was the third kick return for a touchdown of Jamison's career (2 kickoff/1 punt), which is tied for the second-most in school history behind only Jordan Shipley (1 kickoff/3 punt).
• Ehlinger led the Longhorns on a 15-play, 59-yard drive to deliver the lead to the Longhorns once again with just 4:27 remaining in the fourth quarter. The senior QB connected with WR Jake Smith on a 9-yard touchdown pass and then found TE Cade Brewer in the back of the endzone on the ensuing two-point try to give UT a 34-31 advantage.
• Oklahoma State K Alex Hale booted a 34-yard field goal with five seconds remaining to tie the game at 34-34 and send it to overtime. It marked UT's third overtime game of the season, the first time the Horns have played that much 'free football' since 2017 (3 times). The Longhorns went to overtime against OSU during that 2017 season – the only times the two teams have needed extra time to decide a winner in series history.
• Ehlinger completed a 15-yard pass to Joshua Moore on the opening possession of overtime to give Texas a 41-34 advantage. It was Moore's first catch of the day and his third-straight outing with a receiving touchdown.
• Ossai clinched Texas' come-from-behind win with a fourth-down sack of Sanders on OSU's ensuing possession. He finished with a career-high 12 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks.
