No. 1 Men’s Swimming continues dominance on Friday at Hall of Fame Invite

The Longhorns earned wins in all six events on night three of the four-day meet.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 1 University of Texas Men's Swimming team claimed wins in all six events on Friday evening during the third night of the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The Longhorns have won all 12 events over the first three nights of the four-day event.
Freshman Carson Foster earned victory in the 400-yard individual medley (3:38.89), and senior Sam Pomajevich posted a win in the 100-yard butterfly (45.65). Senior Jake Sannem claimed the 200-yard freestyle (1:32.98), and junior Charles Scheinfeld won the 100-yard breaststroke (52.48). Senior Chris Staka captured the 100-yard backstroke (46.67), and the Texas 'A' team won the 200-yard freestyle in a NCAA 'A' cut time of 1:16.99.
Meet Highlights
- Freshman Carson Foster opened Friday's finals session with a victory in the 400-yard individual medley in a NCAA 'A' cut time of 3:38.89. Sophomore Jake Foster took second (3:41.49).
- Senior Sam Pomajevich claimed the win in the 100-yard butterfly with a NCAA 'B' cut time of 45.65. Freshman Zac Van Zandt placed second (45.84), while sophomore Cole Crane took fourth (46.47). Both Van Zandt and Crane also earned NCAA 'B' cut performances. Senior Alvin Jiang recorded a NCAA 'A' cut time of 44.97 while racing in the 'B' final.
- Senior Jake Sannem won the 200-yard freestyle in a NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:32.98. Freshman Coby Carrozza took second (1:33.67), junior Alex Zettle placed third (1:35.47) and junior Daniel Krueger finished fourth (1:35.62). Carrozza, Zettle and Krueger all claimed NCAA 'B' cut efforts.
- Junior Charles Scheinfeld earned the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 52.48. Junior Andrew Couchon placed second (52.67), and sophomore Paul DeGrado took third (53.51). All three Longhorns posted NCAA 'B' cut times.
- Senior Chris Staka won the 100-yard backstroke (46.67), while sophomore Ethan Harder placed second (46.96). Both registered NCAA 'B' cut times. Jiang did not swim in the finals session but recorded a time of 45.12 in the morning prelims.
- The Longhorns ended the night by claiming the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The 'A' quartet of junior Drew Kibler, Krueger, Jiang and Sannem won the event in a NCAA 'A' cut time of 1:16.99. The 'B' team of senior Luke Bowman, sophomore Peter Larson, Staka and Van Zandt took second (1:17.97).
The Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational concludes on Saturday, Dec. 5 with prelims at 10 a.m. CT and finals at 6 p.m. CT. Due to health and safety protocols, the meet is closed to the public.
