No. 7 Women’s Tennis sweeps Brown, 7-0

The Longhorns improve to 8-1 in dual-match play this spring.
AUSTIN, TEXAS — The No. 7 University of Texas women's tennis team claimed a 7-0 victory against Brown (3-5) on Sunday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center. The Longhorns won their fourth-consecutive dual match and improved to 8-1 on the year.
Texas took an early 1-0 advantage after claiming the doubles point. Senior twin sisters Anna Turati and Bianca Turati cruised to a 6-1 victory on court 1 against Courtney Kowalsky and Devon Jack. Sophomore Marta Perez Mur and freshman Gabby Cusano clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win on court 3 over Gabriella Dellacono and Britany Lau. Tied at 4-4, Perez Mur and Cusano held serve to grab a 5-4 lead and then broke Dellacono and Lau to close out the victory, as Cusano hit a beautiful backhand winner on match point.
Texas won all six singles matches in straight sets to complete its second-consecutive sweep. No. 42 Bianca Turati improved to 7-0 in dual-match singles play this spring with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court 1 against Kowalsky. Freshman Adri Nagy followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory on court 3 over Lau.
No. 2 Anna Turati moved to 8-0 in dual-match singles play this spring and clinched the dual-match victory for the Longhorns with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on court 2 against Jack. Playing all six singles matches to completion, Perez Mur added a 6-2, 6-0 win on court 6 over Peri Sheinin.
Sophomore Tijana Spasojevic registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory on court 5 against Ryan Peus. Junior No. 125 Fernanda Labraña improved to 7-1 in dual-match singles action this spring, completing the sweep with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win over Julia Newman on court 4. Labraña rallied from deficits of 0-2 and 4-5 in the second set to force a tiebreaker. In the breaker, she captured six of the first seven points en route to the 7-2 win to close out the match.
UT returns to action when it hosts No. 3 Stanford on Saturday, Feb. 22. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Central at the Texas Tennis Center.
