This is the second set of All-America honors for the two Longhorns in 2019-20.
A pair of Texas women's golfers have earned All-America honors from Golfweek for the 2019-20 season, it was announced Monday. Freshman Sophie Guo and junior Kaitlyn Papp were both named First-Team All-Americans.
This is the second set of All-America honors for the pair this season. Earlier this month, the Women's Golf Coaches Association named Papp a First-Team All-American and Guo a Second-Team All-American.
Papp competed in six tournaments and 18 rounds for the Longhorns as a junior. She recorded a stroke average of 70.78, which was a career-best and ranks as the second-best single-season stroke average in program history. All 18 of her rounds counted towards the team score and 12 rounds came at par or better, including five rounds in the 60s. Papp totaled four top-10 individual finishes, including three top-five showings. She finished the season ranked No. 5 nationally in the Golfweek individual rankings. Papp is a member of the final top-10 watch list for the ANNIKA Award.
Guo is coming off a freshman season in which she set the Texas single-season school record for stroke average at 70.71 and was a two-time Big 12 Conference Golfer of the Month. She played in all seven tournaments and 21 rounds, recording a team-leading 13 rounds at par or better with 19 of her 21 rounds counting toward the team score. Guo carded seven rounds in the 60s and earned her first collegiate victory at the White Sands Invitational. She finished the season ranked No. 6 nationally in the Golfweek individual rankings.
