LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 21 Texas women's basketball team dropped a road contest to Texas Tech, 74-66, on Sunday at the United Supermarkets Arena. The loss drops the Longhorns to 9-3 overall and 3-2 in Big 12 play this season.
Junior forward/center Charli Collier notched her eighth double-double of the season – tied for the fourth most in Division I – by scoring 13 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. She also made 9-of-13 free throws, the eighth time this season she has made at least six free throws in a game.
Celeste Taylor was Texas' leading scorer, tallying 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting. Eight of Taylor's points game in the first quarter. She also notched two steals against the Lady Raiders, the sixth time this year she's recorded multiple steals in a game.
Joanna Allen-Taylor and the returning Audrey Warren both also notched double-figure scoring tallies. Allen-Taylor racked up 12 points to record her 10th double-digit outing in her last 11 games, while Warren posted 14 points in her return from a four-game absence.
The Longhorns are scheduled to continue Big 12 play on Wednesday, Jan. 20, with a matchup against TCU at the Frank Erwin Center. Tip-off is currently set for 7 p.m. CT on Longhorn Network.
