Four-time Grammy blues nominee headline LCL following the Texas Football versus Oklahoma State game
Austin, Texas – American blues and roots veterans North Mississippi Allstars will headline Longhorn City Limits following the Texas Football versus Oklahoma State game on October 16. LCL, the acclaimed gameday concert series, returns for its third year on the LBJ Lawn, located on the northeast corner of DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium, with FREE pregame and postgame activities. All concerts are FREE and open to the public.
"We can't wait for North Mississippi Allstars to hit the LCL stage on Saturday," said Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director Drew Martin. "Their unique sound will resonate throughout the LBJ Lawn and be the perfect backdrop for an incredible Texas Football gameday this weekend."
North Mississippi Allstars (NMA), formed by brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson, have wowed audiences with their hill country blues since 1996. Their debut album, Shake Hands With Shorty, earned the band the Best New Artist Debut award at the Blues Music Awards. NMA has followed up with 10 additional studio albums including 2019's Up and Rolling, earning the band their fourth Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
Greyhounds, the musical duo from Austin featuring Anthony Farrell and Andrew Trube, will kick things off at 9:30 a.m. on the LBJ Lawn. Recently releasing their latest album Primates, they blend traditional American blues with modern jam-band nodes to artists such as Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. The group's 2004 debut LP Liberty was recorded inside of the historic Liberty Hall in downtown Tyler.
In addition, fans can enjoy all of the LCL amenities on the LBJ Lawn including the Deep Eddy Lounge. This season, the cocktail garden will be twice as large with twice as much shade for fans ages 21 and older to enjoy craft cocktails. Fans can also enjoy happy hour pricing** at Longhorn City Limits, including $5 16-oz. domestic beers and $6 16-oz. premium beers. Stubb's Bar-B-Q will also return to the lawn with the best BBQ in town.
