AUSTIN, Texas – Five Longhorns were rated among the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason National Top 100 player lists released on Thursday.
Texas boasted four players on the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason National Top 100 Freshman update with midfielder Lexi Missimo and forward Trinity Byars leading the way at No. 1 and No. 2 in the country, respectively. Defender EmJ Cox (No. 26) and forward Tati Fung (No. 86) rounded out the Burnt Orange & White rookie quartet.
Senior midfielder Julia Grosso came in at a No. 9 overall on Top Drawer Soccer's Midseason National Top 100 player list, an improvement of three spots from a No. 12 preseason ranking.
As a trio, the "Run BMG" crew of Byars, Missimo and Grosso have powered the Longhorns offense all season long, scoring 20 of Texas' 26 total goals, dishing 20 of the squad's 25 total assists and combining for 60 of UT's 77 total points. Since Sept. 12, the group has scored 16 of Texas' last 20 goals with Byars (eight) and Missimo (five) leading the charge. Byars and Missimo have also combined to garner a league-record five consecutive Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week awards, while Grosso recently picked up a nod to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week (Oct. 5).
Cox has played a key role in five shutouts as a center back in the Texas defensive backline, starting all 13 matches and playing 1,155 minutes while scoring two goals (at Rice and at Oklahoma). Fung has been on the pitch during all 13 contests as a freshman (10 starts) and contributed two assists (vs. New Mexico State and SIUE) over 844 minutes of action.
