Overshown named semifinalist for Butkus Award

Senior LB DeMarvion Overshown was selected as a semifinalist for the award honoring the top linebacker in college football.
CHICAGO – Texas Football senior LB DeMarvion Overshown was named a semifinalist for the 2021 Butkus Award, the Butkus Foundation announced on Monday.
Longhorn Legend Derrick Johnson previously won the award in 2004 and was also a finalist in 2003, as was Sergio Kindle in 2009.
A native of Arp, Texas, Overshown has played in 35 career games with 20 starts. He began his career as a defensive back and moved to linebacker prior to last season. This season, the senior has 61 tackles (31 solo) with 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. For his career, he has registered 140 tackles (80 solo), 19.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, 12 pass breakups, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and one recovered fumble in his three seasons.
The Butkus Award will announce finalists on Nov. 22 and the winner will be unveiled on or before Dec. 7. The Butkus Award is presented by the Butkus Foundation and selected by a 51-member expert panel of coaches, scouts and journalists.
