AUSTIN, Texas – After taking down No. 9 Virginia on the road, the No. 1 men's swim and dive program swept the Big 12 weekly awards. Jordan Windle, Carson Foster and Andrew Grimm all highlighted this week's conference winners.
For the third time this season and the 20th time in his career, Windle earned Big 12 Diver of the Week accolades. Setting a Virginia pool record in the 1m with a score of 411.15 points and scoring 420.75 points in the 3m, Windle swept both events for the second time this season.
Foster's historic weekend helped Texas improve to 3-0 on the season after the sophomore set the fastest dual meet time ever in the 400 IM with a time of 3:40.48. The time was a Virginia pool record, which he later followed up with a 200 fly win at 1:44.29. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native erased Ryan Lochte's previous 200 backstroke pool record to win the event with the nation's leading time of 1:42.14. Wednesday's award is the second time this season he has earned Big 12 Swimmer of the Week honors.
Grimm helped the Longhorns to two relay victories, the 200 medley and 400 medley relay, swimming the first leg of each to earn his first Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award. Both relay times rank in the top 10 across the NCAA this season. The Fairfax, Va., native later posted a second-place finish behind his teammate in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.13 to close out his weekend.
Texas returns home on Nov. 18-20 for the Texas Diving Invitational.
