AUSTIN, Texas – Texas cross country heads north for the NCAA South Central Regionals hosted by Baylor in Waco, Texas, at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course on Friday morning.
The women's 6K is slated for a 10 a.m. schedule as Beth Ramos and company look to find their way to the NCAA Championships. Ramos, who's competed in four of the five meets this season, has been the top finisher in each of those meets, including a 19th place finish at the Big 12 Championships.
In 2019, Ramos finished 16th at Regionals, earning All-South Central Region honors. Ramos and Isabel Hebner are the lone Longhorns who competed in this meet two seasons ago.
The No. 14 ranked men's program will compete in its first 10k of the season for an 11 a.m. start time. Cruz Gomez and Haftu Knight are coming off top performances for Texas, as both finished in the top 15 at Big 12s earning All-Big 12 Team honors.
Knight and Crayton Carrozza have regional experience under their belts and will look to lead the young Texas team for a spot at the NCAA Championships.
Both teams will face familiar opponents in Baylor and TCU in the chase as the top-two placing teams at the regionals will receive an automatic big to the national championships. More info on who's selected after the initial spots can be found here.
