Abdalla Earns All-American Honors at NCAA Cross Country Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 13 men's cross country program and Beth Ramos closed out the cross country season at the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.
Ramos began the day as the lone female competitor for the Longhorns competing in the women's 6K. The Edinburg, Texas, native competed in her second NCAA Championship of her collegiate career and finished with a season-best time of 20:48.4.
Ramos competed in Texas' six of the seven scheduled meets this season for the Longhorns and was the top finisher in each meet.
The men's 14th-place finish ties its best finish since 2013. Texas was led by freshman Yaseen Abdalla who finished with a personal-best time of 29:28.1 in the men's 10K (32nd). Haftu Knight, the NCAA South Central Regional Champion, finished close behind with his time of 29:47.8.
Abdalla became the 19th-ever Longhorn to earn USTFCCCA All-America honors during the cross country season. Sam Worley was the last Texas athlete to earn the award in 2019.
Rodger Rivera closed out the top 100 finishers for Texas at 83rd with his personal-best time of 30:03.7. Sophomore Cruz Gomez and freshman Abraham Avila-Martinez added more PBs for the Longhorns with times of 30:13.9 and 30:49.4, respectively.
Crayton Carrozza finished the day with a time of 31:13.7 and Cole Lindhorst was the final competitor to finish for Texas at 34:42.2.
